Nature will only thrive if we take steps to help maintain its beauty, and the Gayana Eco Resort is fully dedicated to the preservation of aquatic life as much as we strive to offer top notch service and luxurious accommodations. We adhere to Sabah Parks' policy on the preservation and conservation of the state's wildlife, embracing the reality that what truly makes this land unique is its admirable diversity of rare plant and animal life.
We also subscribe to PADI's project aware, which presents us with special tasks, including: providing dive experiences that enhance visitor awareness, appreciation and understanding of the local aquatic environment; using recycled products whenever possible; participating in local conservation efforts and supporting established parks and reserves; not selling items made from endangered species, threatened species, corals or tropical hardwoods; respecting local people, culture and traditions while abiding by local laws and regulations; providing pre-dive briefings on responsible dive practices such as proper buoyancy control, securing equipment and streamlining body positing, maintaining distance from sensitive environments, not touching or chasing animals, and abiding by all fish and game regulations; using mooring buoys or drift diving techniques whenever possible to avoid damage to underwater habitats; offering Project AWARE specialty courses that teach guests about ecology and conservation; displaying environmental public awareness materials and providing community involvement opportunities; and using environmentally sound methods of rubbish disposal.
